Sometimes, a book comes along that makes so much sense, you can't help but mark pages and underline quotes throughout. Ravenous: A Food Lover's Journey from Obsession to Freedom by Dayna Macy is just such a book.
One of the ways I prepare for a cross-cultural experience is to remind myself of the worldview that I have. I am an American, and as such I have values and beliefs that seem odd to the rest of the world. I need to be aware of them (many are subconscious) so that I do not inadvertently judge the people who I will be meeting.
Once in awhile I'm contacted by publishers to see if I'll review their books on my blog. Since I LOVE to read, I usually oblige. So when Tim Young contacted me to review his book The Accidental Farmers: An Urban Couple, A Rural Calling, and A Cream of Farming in Harmony with Nature, I didn't think anything of it. Little did I know how thought-provoking the experience would be.
