Yesterday I was editing newsletters from our overseas staff, and became very grateful for the freedom and security that we enjoy in America. I know that not everyone is food secure; there is poverty here too. But reading some of the stories reminded me that we have much for which to be thankful.
I just realized that I haven't given a garden update in awhile. We've been getting LOTS of rain this year, which means I haven't had to water. Which is nice.
The passport is off getting a VISA stamp. A prescription for malaria meds is in my purse. I’ve been scouring REI and Sierra Trading Post for clearance quick-dry underwear and trying to decide how many books to take for the more than 24 hours of travel time each way. (Unless, of course, someone wants to give me a Kindle!)
Note: This is my last deep "orientation" post before I go to Uganda. Over the next month I'll switch my focus to packing and travel tips, including product reviews.
For awhile my husband had a Sam's Club membership through work. We hardly ever used it. Then I took a class with Chef Amy at our farm, and was introduced to a number of great items that you can buy at Costco. I have no idea if it saves us any money, but it sure is convenient.
