DH Cooks: Cheeseburger Fatty, Personal Size

You are here: Home / Food / Recipes / DH Cooks: Cheeseburger Fatty, Personal Size
June 19, 2010 by Wendy Hammond

In case you’re wondering what a Fatty is, “Essentially a fatty is a sausage meat loaf, stuffed with something and wrapped in bacon,” according to Sizzle on the Grill. DH is a member of their forums, and apparently on Fridays they have a contest to see who can make the best fatty. Here is what DH made today. I make no claims about its healthfulness, localness, etc. Eat at your own risk

done

I wanted to do something a bit different then I have in the past. So I did this.

1/3 pound ground sirloin (90/10)

1 slice of Chipotle Jack cheese set in the center.

Seasoned with Sea salt, peppercorns (coarse ground) and McCormick’s garlic and onion seasoning.

Wrapped in 6 slices of hardwood smoked bacon and roasted in the SRG for 30 minutes on high and using the Tommy ring with cheery wood chips.

While that was cooking I sauteed a sweet onion, with a mix of Shittake, oyster and mini bella mushrooms and minced garlic.

Topped it with the onion/mushroom mix, Grey Poupon, and Helman’s real mayo on an onion burger bun.

I have to keep it healthy so I added in a small salad too.

Oh yes, the buns. I was privileged to receive some free Nature’s Pride buns from FoodBuzz as part of their Tastemaker program. I received 100% Whole Wheat Bakery Buns, Country White Bakery Buns, and Country White Deli Rolls. I know what you’re thinking. They’re BUNS.

I was pleasantly surprised. They had a good flavor and were firm. Apparently my dogs liked them too, the little counter surfers went right for the whole wheat (which was my favorite 🙁 )

I didn’t know that was the definition of a fatty, LOL! I’ve heard it used in other ways, though 😉 Looks pretty delicious! Thanks for bringing it to Two for Tuesdays this week =)

LOL heather, ya, I had heard it used in a different way, but this way sounds divine! IN fact, I had a burger made in a very similar fashion at a McMinimans pub in roseburg Oregon and it was divine! Thanks for sharing the real food love at the two for tuesday recipe blog hop! 🙂 Alex

Yum! This “fatty” looks awesome. I’d never heard fatty used this way, but I love the idea! Can’t go wrong with stuffed meat wrapped in bacon! 😉 Thanks so much for joining us for our Two for Tuesday blog hop this week and adding this yummy recipe!
