F&FC Week 1 Round-up and Winner

You are here: Home / Other / essay / F&FC Week 1 Round-up and Winner
April 10, 2010 by Wendy Hammond

We’re off to a great start! I’m so jealous of those of you who are already into asparagus season.

Week 1’s winner of a $15 gift certificate to localharvest.org is Amy at Homestead Revival!

Blog Button

She is well on her way to eating primarily from local sources, although she confesses that bananas are the exception to the rule. Like many of you, she is concerned about GMOs and our reliance on fossil fuels.

A lot of folks also mentioned children’s access to healthy food as a concern. Of course all feed our children (well, I don’t have children so for me it’s my nieces and nephews) good food. A lot of the concern is in the schools. There are two efforts I’d like to make sure you’re aware of.

One is Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. Whether or not you like his show, you have to admit that he’s bringing attention to this issue. I’m still amazed that french fries are considered a vegetable!

The second is Slow Food USA’s Time for Lunch campaign. They are also trying to get real food in schools.

Watch as we explore these and other issues in future weeks!

Thank you all for your participation in the Food & Faith Challenge.

I will admit I have a lot to learn about healthy food but I definitely know that French Fries are not vegetables, yikes!!! I also know that our schools (U.S.) need a lot of help in many areas especially healthy food and getting the kids exercising!!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and I am enjoying the party too!!!!

Happy Saturday Sharefest! Thanks for stopping by my blog today. Are you sure french fries are not a veggie? Just kidding but they sure taste yummy. If it is a weakness for us grown ups it is no surprise children love them. We just have to make sure us grown ups act like grown ups and feed our children healthy and tasty foods! :o)
    Have an awesome week!
