Guacamole Cheeseburgers

You are here: Home / Food / Recipes / Guacamole Cheeseburgers
October 13, 2010 by Wendy Hammond

This is test burger #2 for DH’s burger competition practice. We decided to enlist some additional testers and DH made them for our friends who were camping.

Source: Weber’s Big Book of Grilling

For the Guacamole

1 large avocado (pitted & skin removed)
1 cup tomato (finely chopped)
2 green onions finely chopped
1 Tbs cilantro (finely chopped)
1 Tbs lime juice
1 tsp jalapeno pepper (minced, with seeds)

For the Burgers

2 lbs ground chuck
2 Tbs Extra Virgin Olive Oil
3 green onions (minced)
2 tsp ground cumin
2 tsp chili powder
2 tsp oregano
2 tsp jalapeno pepper (minced, with seeds)
2 tsp garlic (minced)
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground pepper

6 slices cheese

6 hamburger buns

1. Mash the avocado with the other guacamole ingredients and set aside.

2. Mix together burgers and grill to desired doneness.

3. Serve the burgers on buns topped with the guacamole.

Servings: 6

The Verdict: The guacamole made these super delicious! The hamburgers were tasty too. Nice and southwestern without too much kick. Oh, a word about the calorie count- there was plenty of guacamole left over for chips so you can subtract a little. These were preferred over the Black Thai burgers, but DH has a couple more he wants to test yet.

Now THIS one would be up my alley better because I LOVE avacado in any form. The gacamole recipe looks to be one we’d all love here. Alpha Son is a major freak over it. I have to say, I love when your recipes pop up in my email – makes my day!!

I think I know what would up this up to where it should be. A little salsa and some sour cream.

These burgers look yummy. How sweet of your dh to make them for your friends. I bet the guacamole makes them extra tasty. I wanted to invite you over to show off his burger recipe at These Chicks Cooked Recipe Spotlight. Have a blessed day, Wendy! 🙂
