Is it a Cold or Allergies, and Should I Still Run?

You are here: Home / Health & Fitness / Is it a Cold or Allergies, and Should I Still Run?
May 14, 2015 by Wendy Hammond

I have officially joined crazy land: DH and I are signed up to run a full marathon in December! Tucson, here we come. The good news is that I am done traveling for awhile and should be able to get back on track for training. The bad news is that I have developed a spring cold 🙁 It’s kind of ironic, just about the time that I was wondering if it was a cold or allergies, Cold-EEZE Cold Remedy sent me this handy infographic:

cold-vs-allergy

According to the chart (and my own gut instincts), what I have is a spring cold. The more important question: Should I still run, or wait for it to “run” its course? I have no energy, so I decided to Google it.

According to Active.com, no, I should not run with a cold. I could have run with allergies, however, as long as symptoms are above the neck (which doesn’t apply in this case even if it had been allergies, since I have chest congestion / deep cough. So I will take it easy this week and hopefully recover soon!
