Barbecued Beef

Happy #NationalSloppyJoe Day! Yes, that’s a thing. So today I’m sharing one of my favorite recipes from Simply in Season.

It serves a crowd, and is great for a slow cooker!

Barbecued Beef

Created by Wendy Hammond on March 14, 2016

  • Serves: 6
  • Category: Main Dish

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs stewing beef or venison
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbs vinegar
  • 2 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbs brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

Instructions

  1. Place meat and onions in a baking dish or crock pot.
  2. Mix together remaining ingredients and pour over meat and onions. Cover and bake at 325F for 2-3 hours or put everything in a slow cooker and cook on low for 8-10 hours.
  3. Shred the meat with two forks. The meat will soak up more of the juices as it is shredded.
