Dark Days Challenge: Crockpot Rump Roast

You are here: Home / Other / Uncategorized / Dark Days Challenge: Crockpot Rump Roast
December 14, 2009 by Wendy Hammond

This challenge was more difficult than I though it would be. The idea of the Dark Days Challenge is that you try to have one meal per week be almost entirely of local ingredients. Here is what I came up with:

Rump Roast – from Grassfields, where I have a herdshare. I put it in the crock pot for 8 hours on low and sprinkled with chili pepper (not local). I also added potatoes and carrots (leftover from my summer CSA, believe it or not). I also had some Chateau Grand Traverse Select Traverse Red wine. Very yummy!

I’m looking forward to future challenges, as my winter CSA starts this week so I’ll have more to work with.
