Mom’s Apple Pie

Ingredients

Filling

  • 8 cups apples, peeled and sliced (Granny Smith, Cortland, or Jonathan)
  • 2 Tbs lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup ice water

Crust

    Instructions

    1. 1. Mix filling ingredients.
    2. 2. Cut butter into flour and salt, add ice water. Roll out into two crusts. Put one on the bottom of the pie plate, add filling, and top with another crust.
    3. 3. Bake in a preheated oven at 450F for 15 minutes; reduce heat to 350F and bake 40-45 minutes.
