Things I Love Thursday: Yoga!

December 30, 2010 by Wendy Hammond

For some reason, no matter my weight or fitness level, I always love yoga. In the New Year I am going to get back into it. I've always been flexible, but for some reason when I do yoga it makes me feel nice and stretched (a huge difference after being hunched over a computer) and at peace.

For some reason, no matter my weight or fitness level, I always love yoga. In the New Year I am going to get back into it. I’ve always been flexible, but for some reason when I do yoga it makes me feel nice and stretched (a huge difference after being hunched over a computer) and at peace.

The nice people at Aurorae sent me a Northern Lights  Yoga Mat with PER Eco Safe Material, Biodegradable and Phthalates free to try. I love it! Nice and squishy, but it doesn’t stink like the ones at the gym.

Although I have a couple of yoga DVDs, my favorite one that I keep returning to is A.M. and P.M. Yoga. Of course, there are lots of free resources on the internet like Yoga Journal (they have a free online challenge starting Jan 10! And while I like their online resources, I should warn you that their magazine is heavily geared towards professionals) and iYogaLife.com.

Of course you can always take a class at the local YMCA but Yoga is one thing I like to do in my own home. There’s nothing like rolling right out of bed and getting a good stretch in.

Disclosure: I received a free mat for review from Aurorae. All opinions are my own. This post also includes affiliate links to Amazon.com. Aurorae yoga mats include illuminating colors, focal point icon, extra long and extra thick yoga mats as well as yoga bags, and yoga accessories. Browse their best reviewed yoga mats, yoga bags and yoga accessories for all your yoga needs.

Yeppers, my goal in 2011 is to improve on my ability to do my positions and to learn and conquer more!

I just started doing kind of a yoga hybrid thing at my gym and am intriugued. Definitely have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying increasing my flexibility and core strength

Yoga has been the single thread, entwined with walking, that keeps me whole and physically active these last six years. I love FitTV’s Namaste Yoga series – I can do at least the warm-ups and Savasanas (closing exercises) in even her most challenging routines. Doing a practice every day just puts me in the right place. Good new year!

I am just now getting into yoga for the first time – so appreciate the mat and DVD recommendation knowledge! I have Yoga for Dummies – might work – if not, I’ll try what you recommended!
